About this outlet

Eddyline was founded by Mic and Molley Heynekamp.  The original concept was formed as a collaboration of Mic's dream of wanting to live in a small mountain town vs using his Geology degree to enter the corporate world and Molley's dream of having her own restaurant.  In 1995 as Molley finished her degree in Business Administration she wrote a business plan for a brewpub that would use their shared skills and passion for brewing beer and cooking great food for friends.  In 1999 the dream become reality with the opening of Socorro Springs Brewing Co. followed by Eddyline Brewery in Buena Vista Colorado (2009) and in Richmond-Nelson in 2016.

Socorro Springs Brewing Co. was opened in the historic Baca Mercantile that Mic and Molley helped renovate.  Through advice from Tom Hennesy and his Frankenbrew VHS video, old dairy equipment was scourged, restaurant equipment purchased for pennies on the dollar from an out of business IHOP, and with the help of student loans, credit cards, and sale of their personal furniture Socorro Springs opened on October 15, 1999 with four pizzas and four beers (Pick Axe IPA, Polvadera Peak Pilsner, Isopod Pale Ale, and Prohibition Stout) at $2/pint!  In 2005 they bought a lot on Socorro's California Street and began construction with their first two kids along and the third on the way.  Their original dream was still intact and they began pursuing their dream of a brewery along the banks of the Arkansas River in Buena Vista Colorado.

Eddyline was the first conceived name for Mic and Molley's brewery dream.  While kayaking they related the similarity of using eddies in the river to take a break to scout out the next move and to celebrate the success of running a rapid to going to a pub for lunch and planning out the rest of the day or going out at the end of the days for pints to celebrate your successes with friends and family!  In 2008, during the midst of the financial crisis, construction of Eddyline began in the new urban development of South Main.  Opening in May 2009, Eddyline was an immediate success.  By the middle of 2010 it was realized that more beer production was needed and that a huge demand existed for Eddyline's beers.  2011 saw a new brewery with a Wild Goose Canning Line and the birth of their flagship CrankYanker IPA in 16 oz tallboy cans!  A Great American Beer Festival gold medal for the River Runners Pale Ale followed by a 2013 World Beer Cup silver medal propelled their already exponential growth leading to a nearly 9000 square foot expansion with a state of the art Newlands 4-vessel 30 bbl brewhouse with 90 bbl cellaring tanks for a potential production of up to 12,000 bbls per year and the ability to grow upwards of 50,000 bbls/year!

During this rapid growth Mic and Molley took a badly needed break and visited New Zealand.  Mic had family ties to New Zealand and several of his geology professors hailed from there showing many spectacular slides through college lectures.  During their first visit they fell in love with the country and its people and returned in 2011 and 2012.  Realizing the business potential for a brewpub they returned in 2013 to evaluate the viability of expanding Eddyline to New Zealand and with the help of Simon Collett and many other great individuals Eddyline Brewery & Pizzeria NZ was born in February 2016!

Mic and Molley have a vision for the Eddyline brand to grow internationally with individual Eddyline brewpub serving as gateways to incredible places around the world.  The Eddyline pubs in Buena Vista and Nelson NZ are both places where locals come to relax and celebrate and also visitors come to launch their adventures from!  Stay tuned to see where the next Eddyline will be born!
